16 Aug Blue Prairie Top and Blush Pink Bag [Plus: How to Shop for Clothes that Work for the Office and After Work]
If you’re anything like me, you probably don’t want to spend your entire paycheck on clothes. And if you live in a small apartment like myself, you also don’t have an enormous walk in closet (so jealous of those who do though!). What that means is that I’m always looking for pieces that I can wear to work and restyle it to wear it after work as well. Usually I find a more casual top and try to rework it for the office. Read below for the three questions I ask before I buy…
Top: Primark | Jewelry: Rocksbox | Pants: Theory | Bag: YSL
Shoes: L.K. Bennett | Sunglasses: Chanel
- Is the color or print office appropriate? If it’s colorful or loud, can I tone it down with solid color pieces?
- Will the cut work for the office? Is it too low cut, sheer, or revealing?
- If a material is more casual, can I pair it with more structured pieces to make my look more formal?
This “prairie” inspired top is definitely more casual. It’s in a linen material and wrinkles kind of easily (which is just the nature of the fabric). I tried to make it more work appropriate by pairing it with wool trousers, a work tote, and more delicate jewelry. For the weekend, I would probably restyle these with some jean shorts, a fun cross body bag, and maybe some strappy sandals. Anyway, you get the idea. 🙂
Have a great rest of the week!
